03 Lonestar Memories

Character
03 Lonestar Memories opens with a startling snap of clary sage and geranium, green and sharp as crushed stems, while carrot seed adds an oddly earthy, almost sweaty sweetness. This is no polite fougère. The heart thickens into a leather that smells sunbaked and horse-touched, a raw hide worn smooth by use, wrapped in labdanum’s sticky amber resin and just enough jasmine to keep it from turning purely feral. Then the dry down settles into a base of myrrh’s bitter smoke, vetiver’s rooty grit, soft sandalwood, and a vein of tonka that never quite sweetens the deal. The overall character feels like a single weathered saddle left out overnight under a vast Texas sky, the leather still warm from the day and the sagebrush dust settling into every stitch. It’s heavy and natural, resinous and animalic, unmistakably niche in its refusal to compromise. Who else would dare blend carrot seed with leather and call it a woody chypre? Longevity is excellent at 4 out of 5, projecting for hours without being a room filler, which is wise given its intensity. This is for the person who wants to smell like they have stories, not a smooth operator. Skip it if you crave clean cotton or vanilla frosting. Wear it on a cool spring evening or a deep winter night, when the air demands something with grit and soul. Its only weakness is that it can feel too brooding for a sunny office, but that’s also its triumph. 🌵
