Our take

Ground Control smells like walking into a damp forest right after a storm breaks. Balsam fir and hemlock hit first, sharp and resinous, with cedar leaves adding a crisp green edge. The opening feels cold and clean, but it does not stay that way for long. Incense soon rises through the trees, wrapping guaiac wood and sandalwood in a dry, smoky haze. Cedar holds the line between the fresh air and the heavy earth below. Petrichor and moss pull the scent downward, while vetiver adds a bitter, rooty bite. Oud brings a dark, medicinal weight that sits heavy against the amber. The blend is woody, aromatic, and deeply balsamic, leaning into that fresh spicy character without ever feeling bright.

The composition stays grounded in its forest theme, but the medicinal edge of the oud can feel abrasive on skin. It dominates the softer sandalwood and amber, pushing the entire profile into a harsh territory that some will find difficult to wear. The ozonic freshness promised by the opening never fully returns once the heavier resins settle in. This makes the fragrance feel unbalanced rather than evolving. It suits someone who enjoys a dark, unpolished woodland scent, but those sensitive to sharp medicinal woods should approach with caution. The rough texture is the real drawback here.
