Our take

The honey in After the Rain Noir arrives early and sits heavy. It is a thick, golden sweetness that threatens to flatten the sharper edges of the bergamot opening. In a stone garden after a cold shower, wet leaves cling to the path and the air feels dense. Someone walks there wearing this fragrance. The citrus brightens the damp air for a moment, then the honey reasserts itself, pulling the scent into a deep, syrupy weight. Geranium and chamomile try to cut through with their green, herbal bitterness, but the sugar coats them. Rose adds a soft, powdery layer that mixes with the damp earthiness of patchouli and oakmoss. The moss smells dark and shaded, like the ground under a thick canopy. The entire scene feels wrapped in a heavy blanket of sweet, aromatic air. The honey is the problem. It is too much. It turns a walk through a fresh, rainy garden into a sticky, overwhelming experience. The floral and herbal notes cannot breathe under its weight. It is a beautiful idea trapped in a jar that pours out too thickly, leaving the air cloying rather than crisp.
