Our take

It opens with a sharp, green slap of eucalyptus and laurel, the citrus of bergamot and lemon quickly rinsed away by a briny, almost medicinal sea note that feels less like a tropical beach and more like a kelp-strewn cove after a storm. The incense adds a faint, churchy smokiness that stops the composition from being a straight-up summer crowd-pleaser. As it settles, the seaweed unfolds properly, vegetal and wet, braced by guaiac wood’s subtle smokiness and a fig leaf that is more stemmy green than sweet fruit. The base turns to driftwood and Haitian vetiver, with a salty minerality from the sea salt that lingers like dried spray on your skin. Sandalwood and patchouli round it into a woody, slightly camphored finish, but the whole affair feels like a tidepool at low tide: authentic, cold, and a little lonely.

This is a clean, natural-smelling aquatic without the gooey ambroxan or watermelon sweetness that defines the genre. But honesty demands we acknowledge the numbers: longevity barely nudges three hours, and sillage is a whisper. You have to press your nose to your wrist to catch the seaweed and vetiver after lunch. It suits the minimalist who wants a photorealistic coastal scent for a morning walk or a breezy summer lunch, and who doesn’t mind reapplying. Skip it if you need a projector or an all-day companion; this sea foam evaporates as quickly as the real thing. Best worn on a warm day when your skin is already damp, and you just need a ghost of the ocean to follow you around.
