Character
The low table holds a brass tray of cooling tea while a carved bowl of dried fruit sits nearby. A thin curl of tobacco smoke rises first, dry and faintly bitter, catching the late afternoon light before anything else appears. It does not dominate the room. It simply arrives as the first sign that someone has entered and brought the outside air in with them.
Milk smooths the edges of that opening within moments. Tonka bean follows with a soft, rounded sweetness that feels closer to fresh pastry than to candy. Oud sits beneath it, dark and resinous, never sharp, lending a weight that keeps the cream from floating away. The blend rests in the air like a thick textile draped over the back of a chair.
Amber deepens the scene as the oak beneath it adds a dry, carved-wood stillness. Vanilla lingers in the background without announcing itself, tying the fruit on the tray to the smoke that arrived earlier. The air feels warm and aromatic, heavy with wood and cream, settled into a corner where the sun has stopped moving across the floor.
The tea is poured again and the steam carries that same tobacco through the space once more, mingling with the amber and the milk until the boundary between the room and the scent inside it begins to disappear
