Our take

Zeal by Ajmal opens with a brisk citrus slap of bergamot, lemon, and orange that feels less like fresh-squeezed juice and more like the peel scraped over a shaker of iced tea. It’s aromatic, green, and immediate. That lavender and geranium soon push through, softening the citrus into something barbershop-adjacent, but then the pine needle and patchouli step forward, turning the whole thing into a walk through damp earth under conifers after a spring rain. The vetiver anchors the drydown with a dusty, rooty warmth that stops just short of being heavy. This is not a bombastic scent. With a longevity barely north of three and a sillage that hovers near three out of five, it stays close and polite, more a clean linen smell on a collar than a statement sprayed into a room. The overall character is a well-worn leather work glove dusted with pine resin and citrus zest. It feels moderately natural, leaning mainstream in its safe familiarity. This one suits the guy who wants to smell fresh and composed without shouting about it, the office worker, the brunch-goer, the dad who mows the lawn and still wants to smell presentable. Best in spring and summer with that bright citrus, but it works for any daytime casual setting. Skip it if you crave projection, longevity, or something daring. Zeal is a pleasant, forgettable walk in the park, which is exactly what some people want.
