Our take

Blu by Ajmal opens like a splash of chilled watermelon soda on a scorching July sidewalk, the sharp lavender and bergamot cutting through the sweetness with a crisp, almost synthetic fizz. It takes only a few minutes for the aquatic, ozonic heart to roll in, a watery lotus and jasmine that smell less like real flowers and more like a fancy hotel pool’s fragrance diffuser. The drydown settles into a soft, powdery musk with faint sandalwood and a whisper of amber, but it’s a ghost of a base. Nobody is picking up major woody or spicy depth here.

This is a bright, airy, and thoroughly synthetic composition. It feels like a hot day turned into a single image: a teenager spraying himself aggressively with a blue bottle before stepping into a crowded mall. Its longevity barely scrapes three hours, and the sillage is a gentle haze at best, the kind that evaporates before you’ve even left the car. For that reason, it suits the guy who wants a quick, carefree refresh after a morning shower in high summer, someone who doesn’t mind reapplying because the bottle is cheap enough to drown in. Skip it if you demand projection or anything resembling natural ingredients. Wear it to a beach picnic, a gym session, or a daytime errand where you don’t want to announce yourself, just catch a cool breeze every now and then. Perfect for spring and especially summer, yet only truly at home in the light of day. It is what it is: a pleasant, fleeting splash.
