Macott Parfums positions Hong Kong as a floral fragrance, but that label does little to capture what is actually inside the bottle. This is a thick, resinous composition built around sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar, with galbanum and violet leaf twisting through to keep the heavy woods from feeling flat. The jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang add a lush, creamy density, yet the green edges of bergamot and Brazilian rosewood keep the blend from collapsing into pure sweetness. It smells like a dense forest floor after rain, where white petals have fallen onto damp earth and warm bark.
Wear it when the air turns crisp and the sky stays grey for days. It suits a heavy wool coat and the quiet of a street where fallen leaves stick to the pavement.
