Sateen Oud
Fragrance notes
Character
Sateen Oud opens with violet and rose, softened by geranium and a touch of pepper. The floral side feels powdery rather than fresh, leaning into the violet accord that defines much of the early wear. Pepper adds a mild lift without turning sharp, letting the flowers sit calmly on the skin. Rose is present but stays in the background, supporting the violet instead of dominating the opening.
The heart brings patchouli, vanilla, and cedar into the mix. Patchouli gives an earthy weight that grounds the powdery florals, while vanilla smooths the edges and adds a gentle sweetness. Cedar contributes a dry woodiness that keeps the vanilla from feeling heavy. Together, these notes shift the fragrance from floral to woody without a sudden break, moving gradually toward the darker accords that follow.
Guaiac wood, oud, and benzoin form the base, reinforcing the woody and smoky character already suggested by the earlier notes. The oud here is steady and resinous, supported by the benzoin that adds a warm, slightly balsamic texture. Guaiac wood deepens the drydown with a firm, dry wood tone. The smoky accord runs through this stage, sitting alongside the lingering violet and vanilla from earlier. Powder remains noticeable, blending the floral opening with the resinous woods beneath it
