Our take

Magnolia Musk does not open with the soft petal landing you might expect from the name. Davana and pink pepper push forward first, bright and slightly sharp, with lemon adding a clean edge that keeps the florals from settling into a sleepy bouquet. Carrot and osmanthus give the heart an unusual, earthy sweetness, while magnolia and mimosa absolute bring a pale, powdery softness that feels more like fabric than flower.

Ambrette, cashmeran, and tonka bean wrap that floral core in a warm, musky blanket, with oakmoss and patchouli grounding the blend so it never floats away completely. Mate adds a dry, leafy whisper that keeps the sweetness from becoming too plush, and ambrox super gives the whole composition a modern, slightly mineral glaze. It suits a sunlit room where linen curtains move in a breeze, a space that feels curated rather than casual.

The composition is busy, with nearly every material fighting for attention at once. Composed by Meabh McCurtin, it sometimes smells like several different ideas layered without a clear decision about which one should lead. If you prefer a fragrance that states a single intention and holds it, this one scatters its focus across too many directions.
