Our take

Hürrem the Cheerful opens with a sharp edge that catches the nose immediately. The mandarin orange and bergamot arrive with a bright, almost piercing intensity that can feel abrasive for the first few minutes. This initial roughness is the price of its vivid character, as the concentrated citrus does not ease in gently. It pushes forward with a loud, sunny presence that demands attention rather than whispering for it.

Once the orange and lavender settle, the wild jasmine takes a firm hold. This heart note steers the scent away from a simple fruit salad and pulls it toward a garden path lined with herbs. The transition feels sudden, moving from a loud start to a floral center that carries a green, slightly medicinal quality. It suits a wide sidewalk under a clear sky, where the air feels open and the day is active. The cashmeran and pine in the base add a dry woodiness that keeps the jasmine from becoming too soft or powdery.

That same dry woodiness, however, struggles to fully smooth out the abrasive opening. The pine and cypress lend a rustic, almost sappy texture that clashes slightly with the delicate jasmine instead of supporting it. The scent never quite achieves the seamless harmony its name suggests, leaving a slight disjointed feeling between the bright top and the woody finish. It is a vibrant walk through a citrus grove, but the branches here have thorns.
