Sunlight hits the terrace tiles and the air feels dry and clear. Prickly pear and yuzu arrive first, bright and a little unusual, followed quickly by bergamot and lime that keep the opening sharp. Green tea and aloe vera move through the middle, smooth and cooling, while mint and cactus add a clean, slightly watery edge. Fig gives a soft roundness that stops the greens from feeling thin, and cardamom with pink pepper bring a gentle heat that sits just beneath the surface. The scent feels like a garden that grows in shallow soil and strong light, aromatic and fruity without becoming heavy.
Christian Carbonnel composed Green Cactus for Phil Julian as a unisex release that leans into fresh spicy and woody facets as the notes settle. It stays lively and modern, though the sweetness sometimes sits awkwardly against the drier greens and creates a small clash that never quite resolves. The aloe and tea are well done, but the fruity side can read a bit synthetic next to the natural feel of the mint and pepper. It is a pleasant daytime companion with a distinct personality, yet the balance between fruit and green feels slightly forced, and that small tension is what keeps it from feeling completely cohesive.
