Character
The sun sits high over a stone courtyard where a man leans against a warm wall. He has just peeled a blood mandarin and the bright juice catches the light. A handful of fresh mint rests beside it, cool and damp. The air carries a sharp grapefruit edge that cuts through the dry heat of the afternoon. A breeze moves through and brings a sudden wave of rose, not soft or powdery, but dry and structured, wrapped tightly around a stick of cinnamon bark that someone has broken open nearby. The spices do not burn. They sit comfortably in the air, adding a gentle heat to the citrus that still lingers on the skin.
As the moment holds, the ground beneath him feels dry and rich. The scent of leather from a worn glove mixes with a deep amber glow and the dark, earthy weight of patchouli. The green freshness from the start now feels a bit forced against the heavy base, as if the mint and citrus were asked to do a job they cannot quite finish. The aromatic opening promises a clean energy that the resinous, woody drydown refuses to honor. It creates a split between the bright start and the dense finish, leaving the impression that the two halves never fully agreed to occupy the same space.
