Penn State University Women
Fragrance notes
Penn State University Women opens with a bright, tart cassis note paired with raspberry blossom. The fruit feels crisp and slightly green rather than syrupy. Star jasmine and Moroccan rose take over quickly, supported by lilac that adds a powdery, airy edge. The floral heart is the core of the fragrance, soft and rounded without becoming heavy.
The base introduces amber, patchouli, bourbon vanilla, and tonka bean. Vanilla and tonka lead the drydown, creating a sweet, creamy finish that sits close to the skin. Patchouli adds a mild earthy touch, though amber remains quiet throughout. The composition stays floral and vanilla-forward from the first spray to the end.
The sweetness from the vanilla and tonka bean builds up and can feel one-dimensional after a while. The raspberry blossom and cassis from the opening do not return to balance the base. Lilac and jasmine provide a floral lift, but they cannot cut through the heavy vanilla. The scent lacks a fresh or woody element to create contrast.
