Our take

This opens with a brisk, bitter snap of bergamot and black currant, like the first cold bite of a Granny Smith apple before you’ve even begun chewing the peel. The mint comes in almost immediately, cool and herbal, but it’s not a spearmint gum freshness, it’s a crushed-leaf greenness that keeps the fruity start from turning syrupy. As it settles, the apple in the heart feels more like a memory of fruit than the thing itself, a tart whisper that gets swallowed by ambroxan’s salty, skin-hugging warmth and a clean, modern patchouli that never turns dark or dank. The whole thing is a sharp, polished green apple dropped into a sparkling glass of tonic water, crisp on entry, then fading into a faint mineral fizz on your wrist.

For a fragrance this bright and approachable, the longevity is genuinely disappointing, barely scraping three hours before you’re sniffing your arm in confusion. The sillage is equally polite, a personal bubble scent that won’t announce you before you enter a room. That’s the trade off, you wear it for the first half hour.

This is a spring morning office scent for the guy who wants to smell clean and put together without shouting about it. It suits the person who refreshes at lunch and doesn’t mind that their signature scent is more of a polite nod than a handshake. Skip it if you want something that lasts through dinner or projects any real presence. Olivier Cresp gave us a perfectly pleasant, slightly synthetic day player, but don’t ask it to work overtime.
