The heart is dense, almost chewy, with the wine note playing like a lush but unsweetened kir royale. As it dries, the amber and patchouli thicken into a soft, earthy base, while cedar adds a dry splinter to keep it from becoming cloying. This is a wintertime beast through and through, demanding cold air and a wool coat to tame its cozy heaviness. The longevity is decent, but projection stays close to the chest after the first hour, which is its real weakness: you smell fantastic, but only if someone leans in. It suits the man who wants to smell expensive and grounded, not loud. Skip it if you prefer fresh citrus or clean laundry scents, because this one is all about a warm, boozy, almost overwrought comfort. Wear it to a late dinner in November when the wind bites, or to a dimly lit lounge where the wine flows freely. It has its limits, but within them, it settles like a weighted blanket.
