Mahni Cassonade
Fragrance notes
Character
Mahni Cassonade opens with a whisper of ice cream that’s less a scoop and more a memory of vanilla soft serve melting on a summer curb. The bergamot flickers briefly, a citrus spark that gets swallowed by cashmeran’s fuzzy warmth before the real show begins. That show is brown sugar and toffee, sticky and deep, clinging to the skin like caramelized edges of a crème brûlée left too long under the broiler. Bertrand Duchaufour has composed a gourmand that sidesteps cloying by layering Amberwood and white amber as a dry, slightly woody brace, but make no mistake: this is a dessert, not a main course.
The drydown settles into vanilla caviar and musk, powdery and soft, but the performance numbers tell the honest story. With longevity barely above average and sillage that hovers close, Cassonade is a skin scent masquerading as a gourmand bomb. It wears like a cashmere hoodie dipped in sugar: cozy, intimate, and entirely unsuited for projection games. This is perfect for fall and winter evenings when you want to smell like a bakery without announcing it to the whole train, but skip it if you crave beast mode or any trace of green or floral freshness. It’s feminine in tilt but unisex in practice, best for those who find comfort in warm, sweet, powdery blankets. Does any fragrance with “cassonade” in the name really need to shout?
