Cherry Powder
Fragrance notes
Character
Cherry Powder opens with a blast of candied cherry that feels more maraschino than orchard fruit, sticky and glossy as if someone spilled a jar of Luxardo syrup across a marble counter. The powdery notes arrive almost immediately, dusting that sweetness with a soft, cosmetic veil, and then the macarons and milk swell in, turning everything into a dessert that never quite bakes into something solid. It is undeniably synthetic, but in the way a good lip gloss or a Japanese eraser can be synthetic: pleasant, nostalgic, and utterly unapologetic about its artifice. The dry down is where the almond emerges, lending a faint bitter edge that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into pure sugar.
The overall character is a ruffled pink blouse left on a vanity next to a half empty bottle of body glitter spray. It is sweet and lactonic, but so light in projection that it feels like a secret you are keeping from everyone except yourself. With sillage hovering just under three and longevity barely above average, this fragrance asks for intimate proximity and frequent reapplication. It suits someone who wants to smell pretty and edible without screaming for attention, and who prefers a whisper to a shout. Skip it if you need a cherry that bites back or if you find tonka and powder cloying.
Wear it on a cool spring afternoon when the sun is warm but the breeze still carries a chill. It belongs at a picnic with pastel linens and iced tea, or tucked into the collar of a cashmere sweater for an afternoon of nothing in particular. It is a perfectly nice fragrance, but that is precisely its limitation. 🍒
