The evening is just beginning to settle, and the air feels alive with these bright, tangy threads.
Jasmine begins to rise from a nearby planter, its white petals open and heavy in the cooling air. Beneath that floral softness, a dark patchouli creeps in, rich and slightly damp, grounding the sweetness so it never becomes cloying. The two sit together comfortably, the flower and the leaf, creating a heart that feels both elegant and rooted in the soil below the stones.
Cedar planks line the bench where the evening crowd gathers, their dry, resinous scent blending with the green, damp character of oakmoss that clings to the shaded corners of the yard. The wood is sturdy and cool, offering a firm foundation for the citrus and the flower that continue to drift through the space.
