The Majestic Oud opens like a fruit basket dropped onto a pile of smoldering firewood. Apple, black currant, raspberry, melon, bergamot, and lemon all jostle for attention in a sticky-sweet burst that feels less like an introduction and more like a carnival barker shouting over the crowd. As the top notes settle, the patchouli and sage step in to sweep away the sugar, adding an aromatic, slightly camphoraceous clarity. This is where the composition finds its footing. The dry down brings a subdued agarwood, softened by amber and musk into a powdery, warm skin scent that never quite reaches the animalic depths you might expect from a fragrance called Majestic Oud. The overall character reminds me of a velvet theater curtain stained with cheap soda. It wants to be grand but is too timid for the stage.
The blend leans synthetic in the opening, with those high-pitched fruit accords that refuse to fully integrate with the wood beneath. Longevity sits around moderate at 3.65, sillage a polite whisper at 3.19. For an oud-centric release, this is disappointingly thin. It suits someone dipping a toe into woody fragrances and wants an easy, non-confrontational wear, but anyone expecting a barnyard banger or a smoky masterpiece should walk right past. Best reserved for crisp autumn evenings, a night out where you want to be noticed only in passing. It asks a quiet question: is there such a thing as a safe oud?
