Ma Chérie opens with a brisk, almost sharp burst of bergamot and green notes, like slicing into a crisp, unripe apple. That initial freshness is quickly softened by a clean, aromatic lavender that sits at the heart, but this isn’t the drowsy, herbal lavender of a pillow spray. It’s more polished, verging on powdery, as if the lavender has been dusted with a fine, pale powder. The dry down settles into a familiar musk and sandalwood base, with that powdery accord lingering like a faint, scented cloud. The overall character is a wistful, slightly dated floral-woody musk. Imagine a pressed flower kept inside a well-loved paperback from 1997. It feels soft, powdery, and distinctly mainstream, more synthetic than natural, but charming in its straightforwardness. The biggest weakness is the performance: a longevity just over 2 and a sillage barely above 2 means this fades into a skin scent within a couple of hours. You’ll need to reapply if you want it to be noticed. It suits someone who loves soft, clean, comforting scents for casual daytime wear, especially in spring and summer. Skip it if you crave projection, longevity, or anything with depth or edge.
