Our take

Botica 214 Verano en Firenze opens with a double dose of strawberry, wild and cultivated, as if a basket of sun-warmed berries has been crushed directly onto the skin. It is immediate, candied, and unapologetically sweet, but Quentin Bisch knows exactly how to keep that fruit from tipping into syrup. A clean jasmine and a dewy lily of the valley rise quickly, turning the sweetness into something more airy, more floral, more Italian garden than juice bar. The drydown settles into a soft vanilla and clean musk with just enough woody base to stop it from floating away entirely. The overall impression is like a strawberry that has rolled off a wicker picnic basket and landed in a bed of white blooms, crushed but still bright. It feels synthetic in the best mainstream way, polished and pretty, but with performance that betrays its charm. Longevity barely brushes three hours, and sillage hovers close to the skin. This is a fragrance for a spring afternoon, for brunch on a terrace, for the woman who wants to smell like a glass of rosé and a handful of fresh fruit without demanding attention from across the room. If you crave projection or depth, skip it. For a light, joyful floral fruity that whispers rather than shouts, it is a perfectly lovely, fleeting pleasure.
