Our take

SpongeBob is a real fragrance, not a joke bottle that happens to smell like nothing. Melon, lemon and grapefruit open it loud and citrusy, and sea notes push it further into aquatic territory almost immediately, an ozonic, salty freshness closer to a wet beach towel than a garden. Rosemary threads through the middle, adding a green, herbal snap next to all that salt water, a small, distinct dose of actual perfumery inside a novelty bottle.

Musk and woodsy notes settle underneath, grounding what could otherwise be an entirely weightless composition. What is genuinely surprising is how it performs: this is very long-lasting and pushes hard, and sillage fills a room the way novelty fragrances almost never do, loud enough to notice from clear across a kitchen. It holds that strength through every season of the year, spring, summer, fall and winter all scoring equally well, which says something about how simple and durable an aquatic citrus accord can be when nobody bothers making it subtle. For a fragrance sold mostly as a gag gift, the amount of actual projection here is almost funny.
