Cuir Iris
Fragrance notes
Character
Cuir Iris opens with a resinous warmth from Peru balsam, joined by the brisk bite of pink pepper and the slightly bitter green of artemisia. The entrance feels thick and slightly sticky, announcing a composition that prioritizes weight over freshness.
The heart brings forward a substantial iris, rendered here as a dry, root-like powder rather than a delicate flower. Cedar gives the center some structural firmness, while lily-of-the-valley adds a faint, clean whisper that struggles to rise above the heavier materials surrounding it.
Leather and tobacco anchor the base, supported by a soft musk and a vanilla that rounds the edges without making the blend dessert-like. The scent stays near the body, moving through the air only enough to be noticed by someone standing close. It requires a few sprays to maintain a consistent presence on the skin.
The herbal and animalic facets promised by the accords are subtle to the point of disappearing once the leather takes hold. The iris and tobacco do their work, but the artemisia and lily-of-the-valley lack the clarity to register distinctly against the dense balsamic foundation.
