Van Gils His Aura opens with a sharp synthetic edge that catches the air immediately. The litchi and apple combination feels a bit manufactured, lacking the natural juice of the actual fruits, and the bergamot adds a bright but somewhat thin layer over the top.
In the midday sun near a garden path, the pepper begins to warm the skin. It sits next to the geranium, which offers a green, slightly crushed-leaf aroma that mixes with the fruit. The air is clear, and the scent moves with the light breeze that passes through the trees.
The leather appears gradually, heavy and distinct against the sandalwood. Oakmoss brings a damp, earthy texture that anchors the brighter opening notes. It smells like a well-worn jacket left on a bench, the material holding the warmth of the person who wore it.
The smoke from a distant barbecue curls into the mix, blending with the woody base. The tropical sweetness fades into the background as the animalic leather takes hold, sitting deep in the fabric while the pepper continues to tickle the air
