The theater lobby is dim after the final curtain. A scarf still holds the cool air of the street, and the air around the collar carries ginger and lemon that have already softened into something green. Artemisia gives the brightness a stemmy, slightly bitter edge that keeps the opening from feeling polished.
Saffron enters with the white flowers, and the space narrows. The petals feel cream-colored rather than fresh, warmed by the spice until the air reads more resin than bloom. This is the part that settles against the skin and stays there through the walk home.
Guaiac wood and sandalwood build a dry, rounded base that feels close when someone leans in to speak. Incense adds a thin gray line of smoke, while patchouli grounds the wood so the scent does not drift far from the body. The blend remains present for hours without expanding past the shoulders.
The fabric of the coat keeps the amber and balsamic warmth long after the doors close. Metallic citrus flickers once more against the herbal air, then the room smells of wood and smoke.
