Ichnusa
Fragrance notes
Character
Ichnusa is Profumum Roma’s ode to Sardinia, and from the first spritz it feels like tearing a fig leaf clean off the branch. The opening is a shock of green, sharp and milky at once, with grass and myrtle adding an aromatic, almost herbal bite. It doesn’t sweeten or soften. The hay note creeps in as the fig settles, turning the whole thing into a dry, sun-scorched vision of a Mediterranean hillside in August, all cracked earth and wild scrub. This is not a fruity fig. This is the tree itself, bark and leaf and the dusty heat trapped between them.
The development is linear in the best way, a steady green hum that stays close to the skin. Longevity is solid for a naturalistic green scent, around four hours before it becomes a ghost, and sillage is polite, intimate. You will not announce your arrival, but the person who hugs you will smell like they just walked through a hay meadow. That is the trade off for such uncompromising realism. It feels entirely natural, almost too much so for anyone who wants sweetness or a conventional perfume structure.
Ichnusa is for the person who loves the smell of summer more than the idea of it. Wear it on a hot morning when the lawn is still wet, or on a train heading to the coast. Skip it if you want to be smelled across the room or if green makes you think of cleaning products. It is a fragrance that insists on its own quiet truth, and that is exactly why it works. What else is there to say when a scent can make you feel the weight of the sun on your shoulders?
