SAMA
Fragrance notes
Character
SAMA opens with elemi, nutmeg, and bergamot. The elemi brings a resinous, slightly lemon-like edge that lifts the spice of the nutmeg without turning sharp. Bergamot adds a bright citrus layer that keeps the opening from feeling heavy right away.
The heart moves into labdanum, iris, jasmine, and incense. Labdanum and incense give a warm, resinous depth that feels dry rather than sweet. Iris smooths the transition with a powdery, root-like texture, while jasmine adds a faint floral softness that stays in the background. The aromatic and fresh spicy accords are most noticeable here, balanced by a clear conifer impression that runs through the middle.
The base settles on oud, amber, patchouli, vanilla, and the continuing presence of incense. Amber and vanilla add warmth and a mild sweetness, but patchouli and oud keep the blend grounded and woody. The balsamic accord ties the resinous notes together, and the iris from the heart lingers just enough to soften the finish. The whole composition feels suited to a cold evening with a fire in the room, where the air is dry and the resinous smoke of burning wood hangs close to the ground.
