Our take

Anicetus opens with a bright, saline neroli that carries a sharp citrus edge from bergamot. The salt note gives the opening a clean, mineral quality that keeps the citrus from feeling sweet or juicy. It smells dry and polished from the first spray, leaning into the aromatic side of the accord list rather than the fresh spicy one.

White sandalwood takes over quickly and provides a smooth, creamy texture that grounds the bright opening. Cypress adds a dry, resinous green tone that prevents the wood from becoming too soft. The heart feels structured and masculine, with the sandalwood acting as a steady bridge between the crisp top and the heavier base.

Orange blossom and amber form the foundation, creating a warm, powdery floral musk that sits close to the skin. The amber is present but restrained, supporting the white floral note without turning the blend heavy or cloying. Musk rounds out the drydown with a clean, slightly soapy finish that matches the initial saltiness.

The powdery accord is quite prominent throughout the wear. It gives the fragrance a traditional, slightly dated character that may not appeal to those who prefer modern, transparent compositions. The blend feels safe and conventional, lacking a distinct twist or a bold statement that would make it stand out among similar woody citrus releases.
