Our take

Notorious Oud opens with a slap of camphor and saffron so sharp it feels like breathing in a silver tray. The galbanum adds a green, almost metallic bite before the heart unfurls a leathery rose and lavender pressed against the oud, which here is less barnyard and more like a polished antique chest warmed by candlelight. As it dries, civet and cetalox pull the whole thing into a skin-close musk that clings for four or five hours, with a sillage that stays polite rather than invasive.

This is a fragrance that behaves like a vintage library after a storm: damp wood, old leather bindings, a single rose crushed under a boot heel and a trace of medicinal lavender on your collar. It is neither sweet nor fresh but heavy in a deliberate way, leaning niche without veering into the absurd. The metallic edge might read synthetic to some, but it works as a cool counterpoint to the warmth.

I would wear it in fall or winter, when the air can handle its brooding presence, and I would save it for evening, though its soft projection works fine for daytime if you want to feel a little dangerous. It suits someone who likes their ouds clean and their animalics controlled, someone who appreciates a rose that is not a bouquet but a bruise. Skip it if you need radiance or if civet makes you twitch, but if you want a dark, dusty companion that does not shout, this one is worth the time. Is there a more elegant way to smell like a secret? Probably not.
