Robert Bienaimé composed the original structure nearly a century ago, and this private collection version keeps the bones intact. The heart holds ten floral notes at once, yet jasmine and rose do not drown the others. Carnation and cloves add a dry, spicy edge to the yellow and white petals. Violet and lily-of-the-valley keep the center airy while tuberose and ylang-ylang contribute weight. Oakmoss and orris in the base pull the entire composition toward a powdery, forested floor. Civet and musk lend a faint animalic warmth that keeps the flowers from smelling like a modern clean detergent.
Wear it while sunlight hits a stone terrace and the air still carries morning coolness through the hedges.
