Orca
Fragrance notes
Character
Orca opens with a prickly, resinous warmth: spices and benzoin tangled in a rough amber that feels more like unrefined sap than polished perfume. The honeyed heart emerges not as sweetness but as a dark, almost fermented richness, braced by precious woods and the smoky, tarlike bite of choya loban. On the drydown, ambergris and labdanum lean heavy and animalic, a salt-crusted fur left to cure in a hollowed log. The overall character is a driftwood pyre smoldering on a winter beach, wet and ashen, with something living curled inside the smoke. This is a niche composition through and through, dense and uncompromising, with little interest in pleasing crowds. The sillage is a whisper, so you wear it for yourself, not for the room, and the longevity is moderate at best, which means you will want to reapply if you plan an evening out. It suits the person who craves leathery, balsamic depth without synthetic brightness, someone comfortable sitting alone in their own atmosphere. Skip it if you want lift, freshness, or polite projection, because Orca does not wave. Wear it on a cold autumn afternoon or a bitter winter evening, preferably in daylight when the resinous notes can uncurl without feeling too heavy, though it works at night too if you intend to stand still and let someone lean close.
