Our take

Valhalla opens with a bright, almost aggressive burst of mango and mandarin, the kind of juicy slap that feels more like a tropical smoothie than a solemn gateway to Norse halls. The pear and bergamot soften the edges, but make no mistake, this is a fragrance that announces itself with fruit, not smoke or leather. As it settles, the citrus retreats and a surprisingly smooth cedar and cashmere wood emerge, wrapped in a faint, clean jasmine that never goes indolic or heavy. The base is where the name makes more sense: amber, vanilla, and tonka bean combine with Ambrostar to create a warm, slightly powdery sweetness that lingers like the memory of sunlight on polished wood. The whole composition feels like a sun deck on a longship, not a battle-hardened mead hall.

This is a cheerful, easygoing scent with moderate projection and longevity, hovering just under four hours on skin. It wears beautifully in spring and absolutely owns a summer day, but loses its charm in cooler weather when the aquatic and fruity notes turn a bit thin. The sweetness can feel synthetic in the opening, but the drydown is pleasantly cozy. It suits anyone who wants a friendly, unisex fruity-woody that leans more mainstream than niche, and it will disappoint those craving depth, darkness, or any hint of Viking grit. Wear it to brunch, a picnic, or a casual office where you want to smell like a day at the farmer’s market. Just don’t expect it to roar.
