Our take

Sensuelle opens with a sharp licorice thread that cuts through the bright grapefruit. The citrus provides a quick flash, but the anise note dominates the entrance and steers the entire composition toward something dry and rooty. Iris and rose sit beneath it, offering a powdery floral cushion that softens the spice without hiding it. The patchouli in the base is earthy and dark, mingling with a clean musk that keeps the texture smooth rather than rough. The scent holds to the skin with a quiet presence that does not push outward, yet it remains present for a significant stretch of the day. The licorice and patchouli bind tightly, creating a structure that stays put once it settles.

The scent feels tailored for cooler air, fitting a morning walk through damp leaves or a quiet indoor gathering where the air is still. It carries a vintage chypre weight that feels intentional and composed. The limitation here is the grapefruit. It appears at the start but vanishes too quickly, leaving the licorice to carry a load that could have used more brightness. Without that citrus spark sticking around, the middle turns a bit flat and one-dimensional. The rose tries to lift it, but the top note's exit leaves a gap that the powdery iris cannot quite fill.
