Codex Noctis
Fragrance notes
Character
Codex Noctis presents labdanum, leather, cedar, and sandalwood alongside ice cream, vanilla, coffee, amber, plum, and a distinct animalic touch. The woody and amber elements sit close to the skin while the sweet and powdery facets rise. Musk and fruit soften the sharper edges. Coffee adds a bitter contrast to the sugar. The materials feel dense and layered rather than airy.
The composition suits bright mornings and warm afternoons. Sunlight catches the vanilla and plum, and the leather feels lighter when the air is warm. Cedar and sandalwood give the scent a dry backbone that prevents the sweetness from becoming heavy. It works well for a walk outdoors or a casual daytime gathering with friends.
The blend leans synthetic in its creamier facets. Ice cream and vanilla sometimes read more like a candied accord than real ingredients. Labdanum and amber provide depth, yet the animalic quality can feel abrupt next to the sugar. The perfume feels designed for immediate impact rather than subtle evolution.
Oleg Grabchuk composed this 2025 release for G Parfums. The main limitation is the synthetic edge in the sweeter elements, which may bother those who prefer natural-smelling vanilla and fruit.
