Our take

This opens with a startlingly real slice of porcini mushroom, damp and woody, as if you’ve just snapped a fist-sized fungus from a tree root. The peat rises next, smoky and boggy, then red wine splashes in like a forgotten glass left out overnight, souring into a tannic tang. Green leaves and moss wrap the whole thing in a cool, crumbling blanket. The overall character is a single vivid image: a zombie in a tattered velvet dress, stumbling through a wine-soaked autumn forest, her fingers stained with dirt and mushroom spores. It feels heavy, natural, and surprisingly savory for a chypre. There is a small sweetness from the wine, but it is not sugar, it is fermentation. The synthetic edge that Demeter is known for is present, but it works here, lending the scent a damp almost dusty film. The numbers tell the truth: longevity barely crests two and a half hours, and sillage is a soft halo. This is a ghost, not a crowd. Wear it on a crisp fall evening when you want to smell like a haunted forest floor, maybe to a cider house or a late night walk. Skip it if you need projection, or if the idea of smelling like a wine stained mushroom terrifies you. But for those who love the strange and the earthy, this is a quiet little miracle.
