SoScentific opens with a startlingly bright blast of osmanthus and grapefruit, the apricot-like floral tang cutting through a jammy orange blossom. It feels like a fruit salad left too long in the sun, the sweetness beginning to ferment. The heart collapses into a drupe-heavy pileup: peach, strawberry, plum, cherry, each one fighting for attention alongside a peppery jasmine that tries, and fails, to add structure. This is not a nuanced composition. It is a candy store that forgot to install a thermostat, and the vanilla-musk base only cranks the heat higher, leaving a powdery, slightly synthetic amber trail that clings for hours. With longevity around 4 out of 5 and sillage trailing just under moderate, you get plenty of presence, but the monotone sweetness becomes cloying fast.
The overall image is a neon-lit cotton candy stand at a spring carnival, sticky and festive but utterly lacking in shadow. It is unapologetically loud, more mainstream than niche, and feels assembled rather than crafted. Selim Özen aimed for a floral fruity crowd-pleaser, and he succeeded, but only for those whose idea of sophistication stops at dessert.
Wear it on a sunny afternoon when you want to announce your arrival from across the room, or on a spring evening paired with something crisp. Skip it if you prefer dry woods, green notes, or any kind of restraint. This fragrance is a sugar rush with no bitters to kick in, and after three hours you might start wondering if you accidentally sprayed yourself with a body mist.
