Our take

Mother’s Poudre opens with a cold dairy note that feels like condensed milk poured over sliced pear and strawberry. Pink pepper adds a tiny spark, while pineapple and pistachio drift through without demanding attention. Cotton flower keeps the entrance light and clean.

The heart settles into a dense cloud of violet and orris. Powdered sugar sits heavily on the floral mix, with guava adding a tropical thickness that some will find cloying. Sandalwood and Madagascar ylang-ylang try to ground the sweetness, but the sugar dominates. In the base, paper and rice create a dry, flat texture that rubs against the warm tonka bean and almond. Nutmeg and cashmere wood give a gentle heat, though the paper accord often reads more like cardboard than vintage stationery.

The composition relies too much on powdered sugar to carry the middle, making it feel one-dimensional after a short while. People who dislike heavy lactonic scents will find the milk note lingers in an artificial way. The paper and rice combination in the drydown lacks the elegance the brand seems to aim for, leaving a slightly dusty impression that never quite resolves into something refined.
