Rarely does a lavender fragrance stay this green for this long: Egoiste Platinum opens on lavender, rosemary, and neroli, herbal and sharp, and galbanum in the heart pushes it further still toward bitter green, with jasmine offering the only floral relief in the whole composition. Oakmoss, vetiver, cedar, and sandalwood carry the base into something dry and mossy, amber adding just enough warmth that it never turns cold, more forest floor than warm skin musk.
It refuses to fade fast, and the sillage stays a soft, close projection, present without pushing outward. Spring through fall are where it works best, when green, herbal notes feel fresh rather than out of place, and daytime wear suits its brightness far more than evenings do.
Jacques Polge built an old-school aromatic fougère shape here, through and through, with almost nothing sweet to soften the greenery. It is a demanding, austere kind of green that plenty of modern noses will find difficult at first.
Anyone who wants a dry, herbal, distinctly masculine-leaning classic will get exactly that here; anyone hoping for warmth, sweetness, or a modern gourmand edge is better off looking somewhere else.
