Our take

Gabrielle Essence opens on a citrus-and-red-fruit rush, peach and black currant giving the petitgrain some real juiciness before the composition tips fast into its true subject, white flowers. Tuberose and ylang-ylang lead the heart, heady and a touch tropical once coconut joins in, and Olivier Polge keeps the whole thing bright rather than heavy despite how many florals are stacked on top of each other, none of them fighting for the lead.

Orange blossom and jasmine round out the floral core, and by the base, musk, sandalwood and vanilla settle everything into something warmer and a little animalic underneath the flowers. It's a sunny, confident white floral, full and layered, with coconut adding a soft, creamy warmth that softens the tuberose's usual sharp edge.

Sillage stays modest, a small bubble noticed mainly by whoever is close, and it stays comfortably present for a good while without ever feeling heavy-handed. It works well across most of the year, a dependable, sunny floral that trades the funeral-flower heaviness of some tuberose fragrances for something warmer and much easier to wear on an ordinary day.
