Our take

Les Exclusifs de Chanel Beige builds its whole character around honey and frangipani, a warm, tropical floral pairing that smells like beeswax and crushed petals, not refined sugar. Freesia and hawthorn keep the top lighter and slightly green at first, before the honeyed sweetness takes over for the rest of the wear, and there is no citrus or fruit here to cut it, so the sweetness gets to develop slowly and fully on its own terms.

Jacques Polge composed it in 2008, and the lactonic, milky quality in the accords gives the honey a creamy, waxy edge, not a sticky one, closer to a honeycomb still warm from the sun than a spoonful of syrup. Staying power runs at a moderate pace, present through a normal wear without needing much attention, and the trail forms a modest bubble that stays near the wearer, warm and a little heady up close. It suits mild weather best, spring mornings especially, fading in relevance as summer heat and fall chill take hold, gentle and honeyed rather than classically sweet, an unusual entry in a house better known for sharper florals.
