Nueva Maja opens with a bright, effervescent lift from aldehydes and citruses, softened immediately by orange blossom and jasmine. Geranium adds a green, slightly peppery edge that keeps the start from feeling purely sweet. The aldehydes give the entrance a clean, slightly sparkling texture that suits a morning routine or a bright office setting.
The heart is dense with lavender, rose, and iris, supported by carnation and violet. Cloves and nutmeg bring a warm, dry spice that sits close to the floralcy without overwhelming it. Leather appears here as a smooth, muted facet rather than a loud statement, and it pairs with the powdery iris to create a classic, structured middle that feels composed and proper.
Patchouli and oakmoss anchor the base alongside sandalwood, amber, and tonka bean. Musk rounds out the drydown with a soft, steady finish. The tonka and amber add a gentle sweetness, but the overall impression stays more aromatic and powdery than gourmand. The one limitation is that the leather and spice can feel a bit muted, never quite reaching the boldness the note list promises.
