Our take

Clayeux positions Boy as a men’s citrus fragrance, but that label misses what makes it genuinely useful. This is a fragrance for anyone who wants to smell clean and put-together on a busy Saturday without announcing any effort. The argument rests on the blend itself. Mandarin orange and Brazilian orange give a bright, tactile fruitiness, but the musk and cedar pull it back from simple refreshment into something more grounded. It smells like someone who showered, applied a good detergent, and stepped out into the sun. The bergamot sharpens the edges just enough to keep it from turning into a beach scent. You can wear this to a farmer’s market, to a casual lunch, or on a walk through a park while leaves start to turn. It fits the moment when the air feels warm but a light jacket is necessary. The limitation is that Boy stays firmly in its lane. It smells pleasant and familiar, but it never develops an interesting shadow. If you want a fragrance with a moody, unexpected twist, this will feel too straightforward.
