Our take

Clive Christian 1872 Vetiver asks patience from the wearer because the opening arrives crowded. Bergamot, grapefruit, lime, galbanum, rosemary, petitgrain, cardamom, coriander, nutmeg and black pepper all step forward at once, and the first minutes feel busy rather than composed. Sage, neroli, marigold, lavender, jasmine and freesia soften the edges, yet the heart still carries that same density. Vetiver, moss, musk, patchouli, incense, amber and cedar finally settle the blend, though the transition takes longer than it should. The aromatic, citrus, fresh spicy, woody, earthy, green, herbal, warm spicy, floral and balsamic accords are all present, and the result is rich, but the early stage can overwhelm anyone who prefers a clean entrance.

Composed by Beverley Bayne, this masculine scent suits a bright office where sunlight hits a wooden desk and the air already smells of peeled fruit and crushed herbs. The citrus and spice stay near the body while the vetiver and cedar keep the scent present through a full morning of meetings without ever reaching across the room. It feels polished and expensive, best for someone who enjoys traditional structure and does not mind a slightly cluttered start. Those who want a minimalist, airy vetiver should look elsewhere. You are carrying a well‑stocked spice drawer through a sunlit garden.
