Our take

Magnolia and neroli lead the opening, but the initial impression is not a bright, dewy morning. It is a thick, honeyed white floral that sits close and heavy on the skin. Ylang-ylang adds a rich, custard-like creaminess that pushes the scent into a vintage register. It feels like opening a lacquered compact found at the back of a vanity. The floral heart repeats the magnolia and ylang-ylang rather than introducing a new phase. Jasmine sambac and orange blossom deepen the white flowers, while rose oil adds a muted, slightly spicy red floral background. Labdanum and sandalwood in the base give the flowers a resinous, wood-backed structure. There is a distinct animalic purr from the civet and ambergris. It stops the scent from being a simple soliflore. It smells deliberate and slightly furred. The powdery sweetness in the drydown is not modern or clean. It carries the trace of skin and warmth. This is a daytime scent for someone who likes their florals loud and slightly messy. It suits a warm, sunny room where the light hits the skin. It is for people who wear white florals for their texture and weight, not their freshness. It will not appeal to anyone looking for a sheer, office-safe spray. Wear it when you want to feel present and slightly untamed.
