Our take

Marina Blue opens like a splash of cold, sugary soda on a blistering July afternoon. The Amalfi lemon is sharp and almost pithy, but it’s immediately drowned by a sticky wave of melon, Granny Smith apple, and pear that lands more like fruit cocktail syrup than fresh orchard. Olivier Cresp knows his way around a crowd-pleaser, and this is unabashedly that: a floral aquatic that skips across the water on lotus and freesia, with lily of the valley doing the heavy lifting to keep things from tipping into full candy land. The violet adds a faint, powdery dustiness that softens the edges, but make no mistake, this is a bright, synthetic shimmer, not a whisper of nature. The drydown brings Virginia cedar and amber, but the musk is so shy it might as well be a rumor. Longevity barely clears two hours on skin, and sillage is a polite cloud that evaporates before you’ve left the room.

The whole thing feels like a pastel beach towel that’s still damp from yesterday’s swim, pleasant but insubstantial. It suits someone who wants a quick, cheerful spritz before a brunch date or a morning at the farmer’s market in high spring or peak summer. Skip it if you crave depth, warmth, or any kind of staying power. This is a one note melody, short and sweet, gone before you can hum it back.
