Our take

Cafe De Chiang Mai exists for the person who wants a dessert course that still carries a trace of the garden. The opening leans into a spirited rum and hazelnut pairing, brightened by a quick flash of bergamot and neroli before the sugar settles in. Black pepper adds a small spark of heat that prevents the entrance from becoming a flat sugar rush. It feels indulgent immediately, yet the presence of those fresh citrus sparks suggests a composition that knows how to move beyond a single mood.

The heart transitions into a dense coffee accord surrounded by a full bouquet of champaca, rose, jasmine, orchid, violet, and geranium. That many florals could easily drown the coffee, but here they provide a velvet backdrop that lets the roasted bean stay center stage. The blend feels intentional, wrapping the dark brew in petals rather than letting the petals take over the room.

Chocolate and tobacco anchor the base, supported by benzoin, sandalwood, heliotrope, amber, vanilla, and musk. The weight of those materials ensures the scent stays present through a long evening out, though it remains a personal companion rather than a loud announcement. The benzoin and vanilla smooth the edges of the tobacco, creating a resinous warmth that feels appropriate when the air turns crisp and the sky is fully dark.

Jutinat Piyaweerawong composed a fragrance that wraps a gourmand profile around a floral spine, creating a sweet and warm spicy trail that suits a quiet table under string lights. The rum and coffee never fully fade, leaving a powdery, woody memory on the skin as the night continues
