Our take

Oriente by Le Cult 1944 can feel thin in its middle phase. The lavender note arrives with a sharp, medicinal edge that some will find off-putting. It lacks the smooth transition one expects from a full composition.

Bergamot and orange provide a bright, sunny opening that cuts through the air. Ginger adds a slight heat that keeps the citrus from feeling flat. Cypress brings a green, forest-like sharpness to the start.

The base is a simple mix of patchouli and musk. It stays close to the skin and offers a damp, earthy foundation. The aquatic accord gives the entire wear a wet, dewy quality that feels cooling.

Wear this when walking along a path after a rain shower, where the wet soil releases a dark scent and the remaining drops on the leaves glisten in the filtered light.
