Ramad Oriental opens with a bright punch of lemon and bergamot that quickly gets smothered by cardamom, elemi, and a sharp black pepper sting. The citrus is there but just long enough to remind you this is not a heavy brute from the start. Within minutes the heart takes over: saffron and cumin lend a sweaty, almost savory warmth, while patchouli and jasmine keep things from tipping into purely gourmand territory. The dry down is where this fragrance finds its home. Opoponax and olibanum create a dusky, church-like resinous glow, softened by benzoin and vanilla into something almost edible. The whole composition feels like a velvet pouch stuffed with dried spices, left to warm in a sunlit room.
This is not a shy scent. The sillage sits comfortably at moderate, but the longevity is modest. You will get maybe four to five hours before it retreats to a skin scent, which is a pity given how compelling the base is. The blend leans synthetic in the opening but resolves into a surprisingly natural smelling amber vanilla in the final act.
Best worn in deep winter or crisp fall evenings, ideally dinner parties or quiet nights where you want to be noticed without shouting. Suits anyone who enjoys balsamic oriental fragrances with a dusting of spice. Skip if cumin makes you nervous or if you demand beast mode projection. Ramad Oriental is like a well worn prayer rug, intimate and contemplative, but it will not knock down doors for you.
