Space Rhapsody opens with a sharp blend of pine and peppermint that feels brisk and immediate. The pepper adds a dry bite while the basil brings a crushed herbal edge, so the first impression is cool, green, and distinctly aromatic rather than sweet. This is not a citrus opening. It is resinous and needle-like, leaning into the forest accords without becoming damp or earthy at the start.
The heart introduces mimosa and jasmine, which soften the intensity of the top notes with a yellow floral warmth. Cedar provides a dry woodiness that keeps the flowers from feeling too bright, and patchouli adds a mild, dark earthiness underneath. The transition moves the fragrance from chilled green to a warmer, slightly powdery wood. It feels composed and steady, sitting comfortably between fresh and heavy.
Marie Duchêne created a scent that carries amber, sandalwood, musk, ambergris, and civet in its base. The civet and amber give it an animalic, balsamic depth that some will find rich and others will find challenging. The musk and sandalwood smooth the edges, but the base remains dense and traditional. It is a complex, layered fragrance that shines in natural light, though the heavier animalic notes may feel overwhelming for those who prefer clean, modern finishes.
